Liam Payne Apologizes for His Comments About Zayn Malik

Liam Payne decided to take back his comments made about One Direction bandmate, Zayn Malik. In case you missed it, on Tuesday, Payne visited Logan Paul’s podcast, Impaulsive, and opened up about his time in One Direction. During the interview, Payne aired personal and dirty laundry, completely destroying the fantasy of fangirls (myself included) who believe One Direction will one day get back together.

During the podcast, Payne revealed that during his time in One Direction he and Louis did not get along. He also claimed there was an incident where an unnamed band member threw him against a wall, to which he said to them, “If you don’t remove those hands there’s a high likelihood you’ll never use them again.”

The “Bedroom Floor” singer didn’t end there. He went on to make several other cringe worthy comments, including boasts about his record sales being better than all of his former bandmates, despite being last to go solo. He also revealed personal details about Zayn’s family life, running off a check list of why he dislikes Zayn. To be fair, Payne did mention that he’ll always be on Zayn’s side.

As can be expected, these comments did not sit well with fans. One Twitter user compared Payne to Harry Styles saying, “The way Harry dodges questions like the plague while Liam Payne will air out everyone’s dirty laundry for some loose change and a chicken wing,” while another user kept it candid by simply saying “Shut the fuck up seriously.”

Given the online backlash, it was safe to assume an apology from Liam Payne à la notes app was to be expected. Instead, it came in the form of a tweet.

“Guys – I wouldn’t normally comment on this stuff but when it’s your family it’s hard to let it slide,” he tweeted, “They mentioned a specific incident involving Zayn which I responded to – but listening back maybe I didn’t articulate myself as well as I could have.”

In another tweet, he added, “I was saying that there will always be things we disagree on but that I will always, always be on his side. That’s family. Zayn is my brother and I will stand by him forever.”

Some fans have accepted Payne’s apology, “We forgive and love you,” one fan wrote. Meanwhile, others are skeptical, “Who TF is we” another fan replied in the form of a meme.

For now, it seems Liam Payne remains on trial in the court of public opinion.
