When it comes to denim, there’s simply no beating the Levi’s 501. It’s the quintessential jean, with a cut—straight leg, higher rise—that’s stood the test of time and then some. While other jeans drift in and out of style, the Levi’s 501 hovers above the fray, immune to the vagaries of trends. It is classic. It is evergreen. It is, to use a word that is bandied about far too often in the fashion world but actually applies in this instance, iconic.
Why am I telling you this now? Because while the 501 itself is timeless, there’s something else happening at them moment that isn’t: Amazon’s Prime Early Access Sale. You may know it as Prime Day Two or Prime Day Deux. It’s a two-day event spanning October 11 and 12 during which a huge swath of stuff at the internet’s everything store is on sale. You can get AirPods and MacBooks and sneakers and loads of great menswear—all at a steep discount.
You can also get a pair of 501s at a price that, like the jean itself, is pretty much impossible to beat. From stonewashed options to faded ones to inky indigo versions, the 501 is marked down significantly—often more than half off the original retail price. And even when the discount doesn’t climb above 50 percent, the jeans are still a steal. This is, after all, an icon we’re talking about. Snagging it at all is a great call. Doing that while hanging onto a few extra bucks to shove into the pockets of your new jeans? Well, that’s even better.
